Áibmu

In the Saami language Áibmu means "air" and also "world", and this is probably perfect for how it feels when you there.
Air is everywhere in Lapland and it defines the world around it, and that you are a part of.
Although repressed for many years, the Saami people have herded reindeer and migrated though out Lapland (the northern parts of what now are Russia, Finland, Sweden and Norway).  Their song or "Yoik" is a blend of music and the nature around them.
Every "yoiker" has their own particular style and way of communicating, but the blending of nature and storytelling is a central theme.

In this episode Saami musician Wimme Saari teams up with the famous Finnish bass clarinet player/composer Tapani Rinne to perform a few of their compositions.
All of the soundtrack of this episode was composed and performed by Tapani, who is a master of the ethereal and is able to control the listeners emotions with the most simple-ist of sounds.
